Alpen Schuhplattler Fall Performances

The Alpen Schuhplattlers return from summer break on Tuesday July 29th.  We’ll be practicing at the Teutonia Männerchor every Tuesday evening starting at 7:30 pm.  

Upcoming performances include:

  • Stein Convention, August 14 @ Wyndham Hotel, Pittsburgh. Performance at 8pm.
  • Teutonia Public Oktoberfest, August 29 @ Teutonia Männerchor Fest Tent.  The Schuhplattlers will dance on Friday evening, time TBA (usually during the band break).
  • Erie German Heritage Fest, August 30-31 @ St. Nick’s Grove, 5131 Old French Road, Erie PA.  The Erie German Heritage Fest features German music, German food, German vendors, German beer, and best of all, the Schuhplattlers! Performance times are Saturday @ 1:30pm & 4pm + Sunday @ 1pm & 3:30pm. 
  • Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest, September 20 @ Canonsburg, PA. Performances at 3:30pm & 5:30pm.
  • Scott Township Oktoberfest, October 4 @ Scott Township Park. Performance at 1pm.
  • Teutonia Member Oktoberfests: We’re dancing at the member Oktoberfests starting with the kickoff Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 4.
  • Columbus Day Parade, October 10 @ Liberty Avenue, Bloomfield. Parade starts at 11am.

Schuhplattlers Celebrate 30. Gaufest

Gaufest is a celebration of Bavarian dance and music.  Every other year, Schuhplattlers from across North America get together to meet old and new friends, take part in individual and group dance competitions, and perform their group’s best dances.  There’s a banquet with a parade of flags, dance and music workshops, and plenty of gemütlichkeit! 

The 30. Gaufest was hosted by the Enzian Volkstanzgruppe and the United German Hungarians on the grounds of the Delaware Sängerbund over the July 4th weekend.  Members of the Alpen Schuhplattlers traveled to Delaware to dance and celebrate under the fest tent.  This was the first Gaufest for some of our dancers and it made a big impression!  Everyone had a great time.  We’d like to thank the hosts of 30. Gaufest for a wonderful festival!

Celebrate our 61st Anniversary!

The Alpen Schuhplattlers are celebrating their 61st anniversary! 

Our 61. Stiftungsfest is on Saturday, April 26th, 2025 starting at 7:30 pm. We’ll have dancing by the Alpen Schuhplattlers and music by Mädel Jäger.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for kids 12 and under.

Dinner will be served in the Ratskellar for a separate price.

Upcoming Spring 2025 Events

Here’s our schedule for Spring 2025:

  • March 29: Heimatabend. Teutonia Männerchor @ 7:30pm. Join us for an evening of dancing, singing, skits, and more!
  • April 26: 61. Stiftungsfest. Teutonia Männerchor @ 7:30 pm. Celebrate our 61st anniversary with music by Mädel Jäger and dance performances by the Alpen Schuhplattlers.
  • May 10: Sprankle’s Maifest. We’ll perform the traditional maypole dance!

Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit!

Raise your glasses high in a toast to fellowship and good cheer!  Oktoberfest season is the high point of the year for the Alpen Schuhplattlers.  We’re happy to celebrate the rich cultural traditions, costumes, music, and dances of Bavaria, Austria, and the Alpine region with the Teutonia and the general public.   

The Alpen Schuhplattlers will perform at the Teutonia Member Oktoberfests, the Youngstown Saxon Club Trachtenball, and the Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market) at the Harmony Museum.

  • Trachtenball, November 2 @ Youngstown Saxon Club, Youngstown OH. 6pm

Teutonia Public Oktoberfest & Erie German Heritage Fest

We’re headed into our fall dance season!

  • Teutonia Public Oktoberfest, August 30 @ Teutonia Männerchor Fest Tent.  The Schuhplattlers will dance on Friday evening at the Teutonia Public Oktoberfest, time TBA (usually during the evening band break). Grab a hot pretzel and join us in the Fest Tent!
